Instructor: Mr. Tarbi
This is a survey class of American History from 1776 to 1914. We use the other Social Science disciplines, Anthropology, Sociology, Archeology, Psychology and Economics to try and understand the story of America.

=====================================

I try and cover a section per day in class. Each chapter has 4 to 5 sections. There is always a day for review before a chapter test. Tests are usually 25 to 50 questions long and are of the scantron type. Home work will be assigned at the discretion of the instructor. It is the student's responsibility to study on their own time and to know the difference between just reading the material and studying the material. Handouts have been provided on how to ace a test and we have reviewed study methods in class. Please check the How to Study and the Cornell Note taking system folders on this page for more information on the Cornell method of note taking, and the SQ3R method of studying class material.

Class Announcements
Concerning testing
If you are absent on a scheduled test day, you may be asked to take an essay make-up test.

State Standards & tests
Please note that all tests and quizzes now reflect the state standards for California. Each section in the book has the standards it addresses printed at the beginning of the section. Once the student has read the material, they should go back and see if they can answer the standards based questions.  If they can't then they need to go back over the material. NOTE: The common assessment tests, the district mid-term and final along with the Star 9 tests are all standards based tests.
